Primary Maths (KS1–KS2)

Counting, Comparing and Ordering Numbers

Learn to count confidently, compare numbers, and put them in order from smallest to largest.
Study Duration
8 Min

Counting is the foundation of all maths. In this lesson we practise counting forwards and backwards, including in steps of 2, 5 and 10, and use the words 'greater than', 'less than' and 'equal to' to compare numbers.

We also look at how to order a set of numbers, using a number line to help see which numbers are bigger or smaller. Try ordering your house number, your age and today's date — which is the largest?
