Text Lesson
Analysing Poetry: Form, Language and Structure
Learn a framework for analysing how poets use form, language and structure to create meaning.
Study Duration
15 Min
When analysing a poem, we look at its form (e.g. sonnet, free verse), its language (word choice, imagery, sound devices like alliteration and rhyme), and its structure (how it's organised into stanzas, and how ideas develop).
We practise using the P-E-E method — Point, Evidence, Explain — to write clear analytical paragraphs supported by quotations from the text.
