The Periodic Table
Learn how elements are organised in the periodic table and what this tells us about them.
Study Duration
15 Min
The periodic table arranges all known chemical elements by their atomic number (the number of protons in an atom). Elements in the same column (group) share similar chemical properties — for example, the noble gases in Group 0 are all unreactive.
We look at how metals and non-metals are positioned on the table, and identify some common elements like oxygen, carbon and iron.
