Solids, Liquids and Gases
Explore the three states of matter and how materials can change between them.
Study Duration
8 Min
Materials can be solids (like ice, which keeps its shape), liquids (like water, which takes the shape of its container) or gases (like steam, which spreads out to fill a space).
Heating and cooling can change a material's state — for example, ice melts into water when heated, and water evaporates into water vapour (a gas) when heated further. We look at everyday examples of these changes.
